Apprentice TV Show star looking to start own shopping network
Real estate tycoon turned television star Donald Trump plans to create his own television shopping network, The Wall Street Journal reported yesterday.
Trump, who appears on NBC in his own reality television show "The Apprentice," told the financial daily he wants to open his own "Trump Shopping Network".
The billionaire told the Journal he "was looking at a number of different alternatives" and said his network "doesn't necessarily have to be the NBC channel."
, according to the Journal, a person familiar with the situation said Trump had had preliminary talks with NBC, which owns 30 percent of home-shopping channel ShopNBC.
NBC did not comment, the Journal said.
Trump is a second-generation Manhattan real estate owner known for his self-promotion, glitzy lifestyle and high-profile marriages and splits.
